The Slow. I mean, Show

Well, I had actually written my review about The Show already, but my wife in her infinite wisdom suggested that I should probably watch what I say, so here it goes: It was a great place to meet people if you're into that sort of crowd (the creative bunch that is). The show itself seemed a little long to me and I would rather have seen the work that won the awards a little longer (as opposed to the names of the people who won). Either way, The Show is a must-see in MN, so I guess I'll see you there next year–no matter how long it is.

I'm a rebel!

I just took some shots with my brand spankin' new Canon Rebel XTi! I'm sooooo thrilled. This is my first step into a long-time dream of mine to learn photography. I feel like I can finally start looking into more serious photography lessons because I now have the correct equipment to experiment with. I think I know the basics of photography but I need to understand the science behind f-stops, apertures, etc. This is a sweet little camera though. It's got more features than I know what to do with, so I feel like I can certainly grow into it. It's a good long-term investment, so you should be seeing some better photos from now on. Wish me luck!

T minus 9, 8, 7...

Alright folks, if you haven't been to these guy's labs page yet, you should really check it out. These guys are one of the web's heavy hitters when it comes to Interactive Design, and now they have posted some tools that they use. Granted…a lot of this is pretty advanced stuff, but interesting nonetheless!

SWFAddress

The SWFAddress method of creating a back-button for browsers looks promising, although I must confess I'm not entirely sure how to go about using it quite yet. It's supposed to be a simple solution to deep-linking in Flash and is advertised to be as simple to set up as SWFObject. If anyone has success making this work, be sure to let me know! I know there are other solutions out there, but in my opinion, we need more! I'm surprised that Adobe/Macromedia haven't come up with a real solution for this yet.

Buttheads

This one has been on my mind for some time. It's all about cigarette butts being thrown out of car windows once you're done with them. I am completely baffled by this behavior. Who decided that this was acceptable? It is rude, filthy, and worst of all selfish. We know you don't want that junk in your car, but what makes you think we want it on our streets? So please, when you're done with your cancer stick - keep it to yourself. Every car has an ashtray. Use it.

FlashDen

I uploaded an ImageFader file on FlashDen a couple of weeks ago. For those of you who don't know what FlashDen is, I encourage you to take a look. It seems like it could be a promising little site, and I'm banking (yes, literally) on my hopes that it takes off!
