Society of Digital AgenciesIt’s been a while since I have visited FWA as I am currently very busy with work and other extracurricular endeavors, but while there I noticed their advertisement section on the top right corner for SoDA. I am still not very familiar with what this is, but I am nonetheless hopeful of what it could be.

Since becoming primarily an interactive designer, I have been wanting an organization like AIGA that would focus on interactive design and media. There is a local organization in Minnesota (MIMA) that begins to satisfy that need, but it is a marketing-oriented organization, so it’s not quite what I’m looking for.

I just spent the last four hours trying to get my bootcamp version of Windows XP Pro Ultimate with Service Pack 2 (can you think of a more ridiculous name than this)? to connect to our home network — unsuccessfully. That’s right folks, four hours of my life wasted. I have searched high and low for a solution, and was unable to find any.

Warning: lots of complaining and whining ahead. Proceed at your own risk.

[UPDATE]: I have since purchased and installed Parallels, which solved the problem immediately. Funny how a piece of Mac software had to come to the rescue of the mediocre Windows OS. :)

Just recently I started playing around with adding PayPal buttons to a Flash file and was pleasantly surprised at how simple it was. Granted, I only did a basic “buy now” button which is about the simplest piece of code they offer. For those of you interested (and for my own code archiving), here is how to go about doing it:

Set up your Sandbox

First thing I did was set up a sandbox so I could spend money like it’s going out of style. Monopoly money that is. Paypal has set up a nice area for developers to test their applications and their code. And considering all of this is dealing with money, it’s a good thing to test things out before you go live.
