I’ve been meaning to write a little about the transition to Actionscript 3 from a designer’s point of view. Of course, there are no shortage of reviews and posts on this very topic out there, but I figured I’ll add my $0.02 anyway.
As you’re no-doubt aware by now, there are many designers like myself — even as I write this — banging their heads on any hard surface they can find and pulling their hair out trying to figure out Adobe’s latest flavor of Actionscript. The move to a completely Object Oriented approach makes a lot of sense to someone out there, but certainly not to us — at least not yet.

Just got word that my portfolio site (www.molanphydesign.com) was featured on Website Design Awards. Seeing the caliber of the other work being posted on there, it’s very exciting (not to mention shocking) that my site would be considered. Thanks for the love, WDA!

I’m planning to hit the FOWD conference in New York this November. I have heard great things about this conference in the past and look forward to hearing some of the industry’s greatest minds. In a field as fast-moving as interactive media, and more specifically web design in my case, it always helps to see what other people are up to. Especially when they’re that much smarter than you!
Besides…there’s no better time to go to New York than in November, when the city’s all dressed up in Christmas attire! It really is quite beautiful, so if you’re looking for an excuse to go, here’s your chance!

UPDATE: Sooo…scratch that. By the time I got to registering the parts I was interested in were sold out. I guess I have learned my lesson on procrastination for the day. What a crock!
